Our Story
Rising Sky Academy was created from one mom’s mission to build an inclusive learning environment for children of all needs and abilities. When Brittany Ursini’s oldest son struggled to find his place in the classroom, he was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. But she didn't focus on the labels he was given or define him by a diagnosis—instead, she saw an incredibly bright, curious, and creative child whose learning style didn’t fit the conventional mold. She searched for a school that could offer an individualized and sensory-friendly environment while also challenging him academically, but found that traditional models weren't built for children like him.
When she couldn’t find the right fit, Brittany turned to homeschooling and discovered what could happen when learning was built around the individual child.
With the freedom to follow his pace, interests, strengths, and needs, her son began to thrive. Learning became less about fitting into a predetermined path and more about discovering what sparked his curiosity, where he needed support, and where his unique abilities could shine. That experience became the foundation for Rising Sky Academy: a vision for education where children are deeply known as individuals and their learning grows from that understanding.
As Brittany connected with other families, she realized she wasn’t alone. Families were looking for educational options where their children could be known, challenged, supported, and given room to learn differently. Partnering with educators and specialists, Brittany began building Rising Sky Academy around that idea—creating flexible pathways to individualized learning while preserving the connection and community children gain from learning alongside others.

Rising Sky Academy offers multiple ways for families to access individualized learning. Whether a child needs targeted academic support, ongoing guidance for homeschooling, or a collaborative learning experience, families can choose the level of partnership that best fits their needs while remaining connected to the same core educational philosophy.
Hybrid Learning

Full-Time Programming
Horizon Hub is Rising Sky Academy’s three-day hybrid learning program, providing core academic instruction in small groups while preserving the flexibility of two home-learning days each week. Individualization is built into the program through learner profiles and personalized academic goals that help teachers differentiate instruction, monitor progress, and provide the right level of challenge and support for each child.
We remain committed to our long-term vision of a full-time private school where the Rising Sky approach to individualized learning can extend across the entire educational experience. Students will participate in a rich academic community while working toward individual goals through differentiated instruction, interdisciplinary projects, hands-on and nature-based learning, and meaningful relationships with their teachers and peers.
Our academic support offerings give families access to individualized guidance without changing the way they learn. Through individualized learning plans, ongoing homeschool consultation & partnershi, and private tutoring and support, Rising Sky Academy helps families understand their child's unique strengths, identify meaningful goals, choose the right curriculum and resources, and provide targeted instruction where needed. Families can choose a one-time plan, ongoing educational partnership, or direct 1:1 support based on the level of guidance that best fits their child.
